Root + Stalk Drone Circle, Asheville NC
A monthly circle for didgeridoo players in Asheville, NC and the surrounding mountains. Open to all experience levels, from beginners who've just found their drone to longtime players looking for community.
About
Root + Stalk is a space for people who play the didgeridoo to come together, make sound, and listen. No structure, no hierarchy. Just breath, vibration, and the people in the room.
We meet monthly in Asheville, North Carolina. Open to anyone who can hold a basic drone on the didge. If you just want to listen, that's welcome too.
Each gathering is informal. Bring your instrument, find a seat, and play when you're ready. There's no performance, no critique.
Asheville has long drawn people toward acoustic instruments and communal music-making. Root + Stalk grew out of that spirit: a place where didgeridoo players in the region can find each other and play.
What to expect
Bring your instrument
No specific key or style required. Any didge is the right one. If you're between instruments, reach out and we'll figure something out.
No set agenda
There's no teacher at the front of the room. The sound finds its own shape. Some nights it's dense and sustained. Some nights it's sparse and searching.
All levels welcome
If you can hold a sustained drone, you belong here. A week of playing or a decade, the circle doesn't rank experience.

Questions
Do I need to RSVP?
Not required, but appreciated — drop us a message so we know to expect you. See the contact section below.
Do I need my own instrument?
Yes. If you're in the process of finding one, reach out — we may be able to help.
What if I've never played with others?
That's the norm. There's no structure to follow, no cues to hit. You play when you feel it, rest when you don't. The circle finds its own shape.
Where exactly do we meet?
Pack Square Park, downtown Asheville. We'll post the exact meeting spot on Instagram before each gathering.
How long does it run?
Usually an hour to two. No hard end time — it wraps when it wraps.
How did this start?
Root + Stalk held its first circle in 2026. We wanted a regular place for didge players in the region to find each other and play.
